Hannah and Ryan's Wedding - The Reserve Ballroom | Neenah, WI
The Couple: Hannah and Ryan
Hannah and Ryan as Hannah’s brother, Austin, so eloquently put it, are one of the most even keeled couples one could imagine. They met in high school. They stayed together throughout college. And are now starting their lives together.
Although two very different people, these two fit together almost perfectly. They’re solid. They compliment each other. They work together. They are one.
During their engagement session, I had a lot of fun with these two. We photographed some natural and traditional shots of them at Riverside Park in Neenah, WI. They wore outfits that were superb in relation to their surroundings. They smiled effortlessly. They were one of the easiest couples to photograph!
The Wedding Ceremony | Smith Park - Menasha, WI
The day of the wedding ceremony, there was a chance of rain. A small chance, but it existed. We had been watching the weather forecast the entire week, hoping it would either come earlier or later than the ceremony. And...it did. The rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy the ceremony and take some extremely lively family photos afterward.
Smith Park in Menasha is one of my favorite spots to photograph an outdoor wedding. It is adorned with beautiful flowers, lush gardens and a water fountain in the middle. It also has a bright white gazebo placed in the center which serves as the spot that couples say their “I Do’s.”
Hannah and Ryan are extremely intelligent people. They are very well educated, well spoken and well mannered. That’s what made working with them such a breeze. They knew what they wanted, left the details up to me and allowed me to work some magic with them.
My mouth dropped behind my camera when I heard the couple’s vows. Ryan’s was heartfelt. Sincere. Genuine. Hannah’s was serious. Literal. Deep. These two know how to land a joke and convey a message at the same time. They are excellent communicators.
Quite frankly, their wedding vows were some of the I've ever heard.
The Wedding Reception | Reserve Ballroom - Neenah, WI
The Ballroom at the Reserve is one of my favorite wedding venues in Neenah and the entire Green Bay, Appleton and Oshkosh areas. Not only because I know the owners well, but because it’s unique. Immaculate. And has a ton of character.
We started the evening off with some heartfelt speeches made by the fathers of Hannah and Ryan. I looked through my camera and was able to snap a photo of each of Hannah’s sisters showing their emotions through their tears. We were even able to sneak in a photo of Hannah, her Dad and her sisters right after the speech. One I hope they will be able to treasure for many years.
Hannah’s Mom, Lisa, played a critical role in making sure the night went off without a hitch. She was our timekeeper and organizer that day. The amount of time and effort she put into coordinating and planning the wedding was incredibly impressive. And, it paid off. She worked very closely with Master’s Touch Flower Studio in downtown Neenah to create beautiful centerpieces that highlighted the unique nature of The Reserve. And set the tone for this classy event.
To top the evening off, we had two unique appearances. One was by Cold Stone Creamery, which served as our mid-evening treat. Each guest was able to make their own custom sundae, complete with all their favorite ice cream toppings. The band, The Bomb, provided an absolutely energy-packed atmosphere with music that would make one fall to the floor!
Speaking of falling to the floor....
Did I mention that the wedding party carried on a family tradition of pulling off a dance called “The Gator” at the wedding? Each member of the wedding party who knew it got on the floor, danced their booty off, and rolled around on the ground like an alligator. It was one of the most hilarious dances I’ve seen all year. Whoever made this dance up was a true choreography genius.
At the end of the night, Hannah, Ryan and I were able to slip away to take a few photos by the clocktower in downtown Neenah. As the hands made their way toward later in the evening, these two drew closer to each other to create some really unique images.
Hannah and Ryan’s wedding reflected what they are as a couple. Calm. Classy. Mild-mannered. And unique. I and all of the wedding guests were enthralled to be able to celebrate with them as they started their lives together as husband and wife.
